Dalilah's Culture

 What is culture?

"Cultures are what make countries unique. Each country has different cultural activities and cultural rituals. Culture includes material goods, the things the people use and produce. Culture is also the beliefs and values of the people and the ways they think about and understand the world and their own lives." - wikipedia.

My culture:

  • movies from hollywood
  • sopita and noodles
  • hot dogs
  • water and soda like coke
  • church
  • pray before eating
  • shower everyday
  • celebrate Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.
  • spent time with family
  • make projects at my grandmas house

mythical creatures

We watched celtic folk stories. The videos told stories about monsters, fairies, mythical legends in Ireland. My favorite story was the Dullahan. He was headless and used a sword and a spiky string with knives on it as his weapons. He also had a black stallion that he rode.

Irish  are very creative and are really crazy.
The irish are very good at making stories but I don't want to go there to creepy and weird because it scared me a lot.

Natasha and WA Sarah watched a video comparing irish candy and american candy.

Thoughts:

  • So far, the judges are mostly voting for Ireland instead of america
  • When it comes to sour candy, the people mostly prefer the nerds and not the apple drops

Next we watched a video about Americans tasting Irish snacks.

  • They tasted blood sausage. Heres a recipe

Aztec Death Whistle: By Erik L. and Isaiah R.

The death whistle was used to scare the Spaniards (conquistadores) away. They sound like someone screaming like they're dying. It also sounds like a goat screaming like the vines.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9QuO09z-SI here is a video of the death whistle.

      Sacrifices:

This is a picture of them cutting open. +

They used these tools to cut open their human sacrifices.
The blades are totally sharp. They are not toys.
This is the temple that they sacrificed people in.

      ISAIAH.R's MANDALA

      Snake Island from Brazil

In Snake Island, Ilha da Queimada Grande there were 400000 snakes.

"is an island off the coast of Brazil in the Atlantic Ocean. It is administered as part of the municipality of Itanhaém in the State of São Paulo. The island is small in size and has many different types of terrain, ranging from bare rock to rainforest. The island has a temperate climate. The island is the only home of the critically endangered, venomous Bothrops insularis (golden lancehead pit viper), which has a diet of birds. The snakes became trapped on the island when rising sea levels covered up the land that connected it to the mainland. This left the snakes to adapt to their environment, increase rapidly in population and render the island dangerous to public visitation. "

      Carnival!

We learned that in Carnival they dance a lot. The customs nd the floats have a lot of gold and the dresses have feathers.
      natasha leslie rojo
"Carnival began in the 1830s as a continuation of the Portuguese tradition of celebrating and indulging on the day before Lent begins. Lent is the 46-day period observed primarily by Roman Catholics as a means of sacrifice and abstinence in preparation for Easter. During the late 1800s, street musicians and dancing were introduced in Rio de Janeiro's Carnival, in addition to themed costumes and the tradition of electing the Carnival's "king." The celebration includes live music, street performances, dancing, floats, costumes, food and beverages.x"
